Eighteen-year-old Harper has grown up under the thumb of her career marine father. Ready to live life her own way and to experience things she’s only ever heard of from the jarheads in her father’s unit, she’s on her way to college at San Diego State University.
Thanks to her new roommate, Harper is introduced to a world of parties, gorgeous guys, family, and emotions. She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with both her new boyfriend, Brandon, and her roommate’s brother, Chase. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both men adore Harper and would do anything for her, including taking a step back if it would mean she’d be happy.
I really loved it but, MY GOD, did this author rip my heart out. I had a feeling something bad was going to happen since everything was going perfectly – well as perfect as it can get if you don’t count a broken heart or two – then the bomb drops on you, an I mean literally. Like I said, I knew something bad was going to happen, but I never imagined that. I liked both Chase and Brandon, I wasn’t really pulling for either one because I liked them both equally – just like Harper. I know there was a HEA for certain characters, I just wish the part that broke my heart didn’t have to be. I did love this book, however I will not read the second one as I don’t want to go through that emotion again as I am the type of reader that really ‘feels’ the characters emotions and the emotions of the book.
