Kilts and Daggers

February 6th, 2018
Author: Victoria Roberts    Series: Highland Spies #2

Ever since Lady Grace Walsingham discovered her uncle and sister are spies for the Crown, she has yearned for adventure. She’s counting the days until she can leave barbaric Scotland behind, even if she must endure Highland captain Fagan Murray’s company for weeks.

Fagan has a simple mission: escort the haughty Lady Grace back to England. But nothing is ever easy. The sharp-tongued woman needles him at every turn. But when a menacing threat follows them on their journey, Fagan’s grudging tolerance for Grace turns to respect…and into a perilous attraction that could seal their fate.

This book may contain explicit intimate scenes, so if you are not 18+ then I probably wouldn’t recommend it for younger readers.
My Review

Just as much as I loved Ruairi and Ravenna’s story, I loved Grace and Fagan’s just as much. I don’t know if all of Victoria’s books are filled with humorous scenes or dialogues as I’ve only read this series, but this book had me in fits of giggles all throughout, clear from the beginning to the very end.

I loved Fagan and Grace’s banter between each other, it never grew old for me. Plus Rauiri and Fagan were still at it, bickering like they were an old married couple, from kicking one another in the skin under the table, elbowing, or calling one another arse… ah I just loved their brotherly chemistry.

For me, I liked how Fagan and Grace knew just what to say or do to push each others buttons. Fagan loved teasing and rattling Grace to a point that she threatens bodily harm numerous times throughout the book. But eventually, all their bickering and button pushing turns into fancying one another and in the end, to love. Grace was a bucket full of trouble, sass, and a incredibly sharp tongue, but Fagan wouldn’t have her any other way. I LOVED his nickname for her, Bhana Phrionnsa, which meant Princess in Scots Gaelic. He called her that all throughout the book, even in the beginning before he felt anything close to love for her. He was such a cheeky, sigh worthy, character and so perfect for Grace. They were well matched and I look forward to updates on them and of course Rauiri and Ravenna when I read Elizabeth’s book, which by the way, I am starting immediately as I cannot get enough of these hilarious highlanders.
